Northeast Slovakia Rusyn "Ukrainian" Wooden Churches In 1971, the Folk Museum of Ukrainian Culture at Svidnik published a 6-volume tome of various aspects of Rusyn life. Volume 5, "Drevene Kostoly, Vychodneho Ritu Na Slovensku", "Wooden Churches, Northeast Region of Slovakia". The book, written in Ukrainian, selected 100 churches and describes their various architectural and artistic qualities. It consists of select photographs, many architectural line drawings, showing internal and external structural elements, internal accoutrements, site plans and certain details. Some churches are very complete, others may only have a paragraph of content. I have translated the Zboj and Nova Sedlica sections. The book also has a summary in English. When I have time, I will post the English-language pages. I have listed below the set of villages names included in this book. If you have specific village research interests and are willing to translate or have translated to English the content specific to the village, please contact me. I will provide electronic or paper copies as needed. It is my goal to then collect these translations together here to make them widely available.
Red - Indicates other researchers have inquired of these villages. A link to a village-specific web page may also exist.
